January 2007
                                                    January 7

Hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and New Year celebrations.

I finally got a pair of very good whites off Dave Pover, i didn`t want to put any birds down yet ,but the whites of Dave were glowing so i have put them down.I will give them 2 weeks to see if they produce anything if nothing i will separate them until i want to put them down.

My own white cock which is paired with a fawn hen and was sitting on four eggs in my flight, one of the eggs hatched today   ,i hope that the chick survives as they stopped feeding their last chick which was a red eyed white when it was a week old.

Hope you will try and make the Welsh National Show 21 January, there are approx 30 java cages entered so i can finally see other breeders best birds and compare them with mine.Good luck to those who have entered their birds.

On the day of the show i would like to take a few pictures of your javas and yourselves to put on my website, with your permission.
                        17 January

My young white chick is doing well, and my pied chick born (November 1) is starting to loose his drab first feathers.

As my fife hen was carrying bits off the floor the last two weeks i decided to put the cock with her and put the nest pan up.I put the nest pan up Tuesday morning,Thursday the hen had laid her first egg,she laid her last egg Sunday.I candled her eggs when she went to have some seed,i was pleased to find there were sings of fertility in four of her eggs.So by the end of next week i might have my first fife young.

All my cock birds are still separated from the hens,i plan to start pairing them sometime in March.

The weather is turning colder this Sunday so i will be keeping my shed doors closed to protect the birds from any cold wind.

The whites i had off Dave Pover have built a nest but no eggs as of yet,if there are no eggs by Sunday i will separate them for 1 week but making sure they can still see each other.

I thought the Welsh National Show was very good, and thoroughly enjoyed the whole day.
The three birds i entered all had results 6/5/5 i was quite pleased as the two opal pastels were in the first stage of the moult.

I hope to meet up to the friends i have made during the last year at other shows/via email or telephone.

It was nice to see the wide range of javas on show and in which way i need to go to produce the ideal show bird.

My fife chicks started to hatch today, they are quite ugly.

I can now tell the colour of the three chicks that were produced by putting a cream cock with a opal Isabel are two creams and 1 fawn.I was hoping i could have produced the ivory colour.

My white cock with fawn hen has what this early stage has produced a fawn pied, not a red eyed white like last time(but sadly died).
I bought a pair of bengalese   from the Welsh National Show ,they don`t usually appeal to me but the markings were very prominent.

I bought a pair of Diamond Sparrow fire tails yesterday,as they have that striking red rump which is very eye catching.
