These are my chicks out of my fawn cock x saddle back hen coming on nicely.
My cream hen with a large pied cock, who has laid 6 eggs, 4 of the eggs are showing signs of the first stages of growth.Hopefully this is my first stage of trying to increase the cream mutation size.
One of my three cream chicks died, it has always been one of the weakest chicks.
My indoor flight where i put all my breeding pairs for a few weeks (july 30) is alive with action ,fighting ,flirting, singing and squalling.
AUGUST 4
This is the opal I plan to show October
Not much happening at the moment, I have sorted which birds I am going to keep and sell or swap.I have silvers,1 pastel, pied to sell or swap.
I have one opal Isabel which is good enough to take to my first show in October if all goes well.
My cream hen with a pied has been sitting on 6 eggs (August 2)and showing signs of life, but she has laid another 3 eggs and she looks like she will lay another one in the morning.I have removed the 3 fresh eggs before they start being incubated, so I can put them under the next pair of birds. Is this unusual? Please let me know if anyone has come across this before.
AUGUST 11
Still rather quiet at the moment - two of the fawn cock x 100%pied chicks have left the nest box this morning. The cock is trying to build a nest but all its young are still on the nest.
For some reason the chick to leave the nest box looks silver.
I had a chat with Rob Salem over the phone, hopefully he will be able to visit us in South Wales and catch the local bird sale.
Rob gave me a tip to beef my show bird up by mixing some Hemp with its daily food ,but not too much.I bought some yesterday from my local pet food supplier.
AUGUST 13
cock
Today I bought two white white javas cocks shown in the photo on the right, I was very pleased. One of them (bottom pic) is just about through the moult but still looks ok.
Also today I had arranged to meet Dean from Cardiff to have a look at my set up,and my birds. He has canaries at the moment and would like three pairs of javas,he was a bit unsure about having javas but when he saw the variety of colours he can`t wait to have his own.
The chicks are still reluctant to leave the nest box, there can`t be much room left in there as in the night the parents are in the nest box with them.

AUGUST 14
I invited Paul Raymond to see my set up, as he is going to deck his shed out once he comes back from his holiday. His favorite colour java were the creams and pied, but now he has seen the whites, silvers, fawns, and pastel he wants them all. Good luck!
My pied with cream hen 4 eggs look like they are dead in shell,as there is still an air pocket in the eggs, and at this stage they should be all dark. I will put them in the flight until next year.
AUGUST 15
All chicks have finally left the nest box. The parents (fawn cock -100%pied hen)produced 5 normal pied and one silver pied which is really nice. The silver pied ring came off and one of the normal pied.
All my birds seen very lively today, may be the change of season as all the wild birds seem very noisy and busy as well!! Let me know if it is the same where you are from.
AUGUST 17
Good news! my pied`s 2 round clutch eggs are full, fingers crossed they all hatch.
The other chicks are starting to leave the nest box. All the other javas are looking in tip top condition in the flight.
I threw out my cream pied eggs as they had stopped growing about 9 days of the 18 days, and she started laying again today!
AUGUST 22
Hi ,i have not got any news as of yet,the only pair on eggs (pied) are due to hatch this weekend, and i will be separating the chicks from their parents.
I hope all you other java lovers are having a good season with your birds, please send me some pictures of your birds to put on my site .
August 26
Today i put all new pairs together for 1 more round as all birds are bouncing and singing.
My pied 4 eggs are due to hatch soon ,all my chicks are separated from their parents.
I managed to get hold of a fawn hen to go with my fawn cock,i find fawns hard to get hold of at the moment.
AUGUST 27
One of my pied`s eggs had hatched this morning,it would be nice if all four hatch fingers crossed.
AUGUST 28
Another 2 pied eggs hatched today and all doing well ,so i am well happy.
I have put my recently purchased white cock with my white hen,and they seem to be getting on great.
I have put the other white cock with a cream hen,a opal hen with a cream cock ,a silver cock with a opal hen,a pastel cock with a cream hen and a pair of fawns. So far they all have bonded well and have been going in and out of the nest boxes ,so i might be quite busy the next month.
AUGUST 29
The fourth pied egg hatched over night so a 100% record for their first round.
I put all the young chicks in the flight today , they seem to be enjoying the extra space.
After i have rung the pied chicks i will be keeping a close eye on the rings as i have yet managed to keep all the rings on a clutch.
