I have put a few pairs of javas down last Thursday as they are looking really in tip top condition   after only a few weeks of Supper max conditioning powder.

The Fife canary chick is coming on nicely,i find that the canary progresses in growth much quicker than javas .

I have had two pairs sitting on eggs only a few days after pairing them up,and the others have built nests.

The three chicks out of the Cream cock and Opel Isabel   have nearly colored out, they look as if i have a 2 Creams and a fawn that might have a half fawn   and a light silver or cream   cap on its head.I will try and take some photos.

The Bengalese i picked up in the Welsh National are two cocks so i will have to get two nice hens to put with them.

Please feel free to advertise any birds or equipment on my web site .

Sad news today one of my Opal Pastels died, she had just laid four eggs. She did not look as if she was egg bound as she laid the four eggs one after each other over the last four days.I have placed three eggs under other pairs of javas that have just started laying and i have tried one under my pair of Bengalese, hopefully at least one of the opals eggs will be fertile.

The birds i have put down are starting to lay, i have 5 full eggs out of my normal pastel with cream hen,and four pairs just laid the first few eggs of their round.A lot of the birds i have put down are last year birds that i have bred so i am expecting a few clear rounds.

I now have managed to get three cracking pairs of whites its only taken me 6 months.

One of my targets i set last year were to try and produce a stronger and slightly bigger cream,i am one the way as the three chicks out of a cream cock and Opal Isabel are a nice size and seem to be more energetic in the flight than my early creams that i have bred.

I am selling the Norwich cock and my border canary as they are very messy compared to the foreign birds.

My targets this year are to produce a nice cream that i will able to show,to produce a few red eyed whites.

Today i bought two more opal pastels a cream cock and a Timor Sparrow (hen maybe).I have spoke to Dave Pover to log me on the Timor data base,I will try and help them with their breeding of the Timor Sparrow.I am now after a Timor cock to put with the hen i have,so if anybody in Wales has a Timor cock that is willing to sell/lend to be apart of the hard job of trying to produce young Timor Sparrows , please contact me   Leightonowens218@msn.com.

Dave currently has three pairs (he hopes) he his trying to produce young out of.If i cant manage to find a partner for my Timor i will pass it on up north to Dave or Stuart who already have a small colony of Timors, but i would like to have ago myself before i pass her on.

My Normal Pastel cock and Cream hen have produced my first young of the aviary ,so far it looks as if there are two creams, one pastel and there is still one egg to hatch.

About 70% the nest boxes have eggs in,so i am in for quite a busy time in the next month, providing the eggs are full of coarse.

I am quite disappointed with my diamond sparrows ,they don't sing well if they do i haven`t heard them, and they aren`t   interested in nesting ,but they are nice to look at!!

I am having a pair of Star finches Saturday,so my next relative of the finch family i am after is going to be a Owl Finch.

It looks as if my Timor Sparrow is a Hybrid,as it has a kind of yellow agate colour underneath   ,and the wild   timor has a more of a light slate underneath. Thanks to Dave Pover and the boys from up north to confirm that it looks like a hybrid .

I picked some Star Finches up in my local bird sale, now i am after a pair of Owl Finches to complete my collection of different variety of birds.

My 3 pastel chicks are doing well ,the cream chick didn`t make it.There is the early sign of life in nearly every clutch so fingers cross i am in for a good start.

The only birds that have not produced any full eggs are my 3 pairs of whites.
